SI Advance: Scaffold Law Hikes Building Costs

The Staten Island Adnance published a letter written by LRANY’s Adam Morey pointing to the Scaffold Law’s affect on disaster recovery rebuilding.

An excerpt:

“Amy Peterson, head of Mayor de Blasio’s Build it Back recovery program, is right when she says the cost of construction in New York has increased due to regulation and government policy (“Taxpayers zapped for $500M as Sandy recovery costs grow,” Sept. 22).

Instead of playing the blame game when it comes to the climbing costs of rebuilding after Superstorm Sandy, city and state officials should work together to reform the source of these growing expenses: The litigation-friendly Scaffold Law.”
