The New York Daily News published and exclusive article on the day of LRANY releasing our annual Power of Attorney report for 2015. This report analyzes the lobbying spending and political contributions of New York’s plaintiffs’ lawyer lobby. The report found that in 2014, plaintiffs’ lawyers, their lobbying groups, and associated Political Action Committees (PACs) spent a combined $3.09 million to influence state elected officials, a 27% increase over the previous year.

“Political spending by the powerful state’s trial lawyers jumped a hefty 27% in 2014 over the previous year, according to a new report set to be released Wednesday.
Spending on campaign and lobbying by the trial lawyer industry reached a combined $3.1 million, the Lawsuit Reform Alliance of New York report shows.
“The power of the plaintiffs’ lawyer lobby is the primary reason our state is among the most litigious states in the nation and a perennial ‘judicial hellhole,'” said Executive Director Tom Stebbins.”
