A January 2nd article in the Buffalo News recapped Governor Cuomo’s successes during his first year in office, and identified ways the Governor could improve the state’s prosperity this coming year. Among the suggestions was repeal of the Scaffold Law:
“And of course, there are two other standbys, both long needing reform: the Taylor Law should be updated to take into account local governments’ ability to pay for contracts awarded by arbitrators; and the Scaffold Law needs to be repealed. It holds contractors automatically liable if a worker falls from a height, even if the worker contributed to the fall. Like the unbalanced Taylor Law, it drives up the costs of living in an expensive state.”
